I’m back, and I’m ready to share with you some more of my ‘unpopular’ spiritual opinions! Because it’s no secret that there are just as many cons as pros to online spiritual communities. Visit the link here to read part one, and visit the link here to watch/listen to it!👀🧐
With the online spiritual community full of people who don’t practice what they preach, it’s important to step back and process the bigger picture. Are these spiritualists living up to their full truths?🫢
Or, are people just spreading the info they want to and not what needs to be said? Is the information you get from certain people always biased, focused on one side of spirituality, or stifling the diversity of spirituality?🎯
This is a reminder for you, and to help spark the important and sometimes controversial conversations!
No More Waiting, Let’s Talk About My Unpopular Spiritual Opinions (again)😌
- People definitely use spirituality as an excuse to be materialistic. It’s no longer about practicing attachment, its about the laws of attraction and assumption + what they can gain for people. People have forgotten that spirituality is about knowing you are one with all, without having to be attached to all.
- If you notice someone using spirituality to put themselves on a pedestal instead of to understand others better, they’re using spirituality for ego-fulfilling purposes. Out of the spiritual opinions mentioned, this one in particular never fails to irk me! This is especially true of people who are overly concerned with being the “spiritual best” or “highest vibrational” as if it’s a competition.
- Being ignorant and being selective are separate, but not that far apart. And online discourse can make it more difficult to see and unblur those lines. You can still elevate and grow spiritually, while acknowledging politics or enjoying mass media — it’s the moderation that counts. Ignoring one area of life, or focusing all of your attention on another, isn’t the way to go!
- This one is especially for my divination lovers–people do not understand, and may not even be aware of, the differences between tarot readers, divination readers, oracle readers, channelers, etc. It’s important to understand how people practice, especially if they are offering services! You can often tell by how they interpret–is it based on preexisting meaning (like tarot cards or dice reading), or do they seem to collect random, intuitive information?
- Reading tarot, as well as practicing other forms of divination, can be used as a form of escapism–and people at times don’t realize they’re doing it! Confirmation bias is real, and it will gaslight you into thinking you have all the answers you need (when really you’re just seeing what you chose to see). One great way to know if this is true for you, ask yourself, ‘Am I usually using this for confirmations, or for guidance?”.
- Building off of number 5, divination in its many forms can also be used as a form of avoidance! You must have a balanced practice, not only using tarot (including meditation, journaling, reiki, therapy, etc). When we put all of our eggs in one basket, we aren’t leaving room for more opportunities nor are we taking ample time to consider all sides of things! Lets put it this way, if someone would rather pull a card than have a real ass, honest talk with themselves they’re likely using divination as a form of avoidance!
- Last but not least, It is very common to see people’s spiritual callings actually be misguided egoic callings. Instead of being called by their inner soul and spiritual purpose to do something, what keeps them going on their spiritual journey is recognition and validation. External sources of power that make them feel their spirituality is valid, rather than believing it within first. These people have no sense of deep connection to source-it’s all about what their spiritual gifts/journey can do for them and what they can gain and use.
